WAIRARAPA CENTRE. 33RD ANNUAL REPORT. The 33rd annual report of the Wahmrapa Bowling Club, which is signed by the Fresi dent. Mr G. Hayne, states inter alia: The 1941-42 season, in spite of many difficulties, was a particularly happy one. Th increased popularity of the game is shown by an increase of 31 players in the Wai a rapa district. Shortage of benzine tesponsible for the abandonment of the Booth Cup arid Shield competition, and was also responsible for the foregoing of the chal "P l °” of champion games. Our secretary, early i the season applied for an additional al lowance of benzine, which was granted, bu this concession was later cancelled, and the Booth Cup and Shield games had to be cancelled after two rounds had been In December we again paid a visit to the Ma nawatu Centre, where we received a warn welcome from Mr J. A. Nash and our Manawatu friends. This visit was undoubtedly the outstanding event of the year, and was thoroughly enjoyed by all who made the journey. In February, our Manawatu friends returned the visit, travelling by rail-car, and appeared to thoroughly enjoy themselves. We have pleasure in acknowledging with thanks frequent visits from our Eketahuna bowling friends, and can assure them of our intention to return these visits. The bowlers' social has now become an annual event, and although not under the direct control of the Wairarapa Centre, carries its support and hearty co-operation. Members from every part of the district were present, and the event was an outstanding success. I have to record my grateful thanks to two members of the executive —the Rev. W. F otent and Mr Harold Smith for their friendly co-opera-tion during the past season.
