ST. JOHN’S CHURCH COMBINED GUILD MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) An enjoyable time was spent at the Parish Hall yesterday afternoon, when the members of St. John’s Guild and the Kahutara Ladies’ Guild held a combined meeting. The winners of the musical competition provided by the Kahutara ladies were Mrs Clapshaw and Mrs Juno. A number of St. John’s ladies presented an amusing play-reading which was much appreciated. Personal Items. Mrs J. McKenna and Mrs Evans have been the guests of Mrs McKenna. Sister M. Cundy is at present visiting her mother, Mrs H. Cundy. Vital Statistics. The vital statistics for August are as follows: —Births 4, marriages 0, deaths 2. Rainfall Record. The rainfall for August totalled 1.93 inches. Rain fell on 13 days. COSY THEATRE MICKEY ROONEY PICTURE. Tonight there will be presented at the Cosy Theatre what is considered to be the best of the Hardy pictures. “Andy Hardy’s Private Secretary, ’ with Lewis Stone, Mickey Rooney and Ann Rutherford in lire leading roles.
