FIRES IN SWEDEN

A fire swept the big Marma timber yards at Soderhamm last night. The flames spread to the port, where five.ships were set ablaze. The damage at the timber yards is estimated at a quarter of a million sterling. Fifteen brigades fought the blaze throughout the night but failed to gain control. The cause of the fire is unknown. A second fire, at Malmo, caused damage estimated at several million kronen at a leather works.
