MASTERTON FACTORY’S ANNUAL REPORT DECREASE IN THE SEASON’S OUTPUT. CHANGE-OVER TO CHEESE. The fortieth annual report of the Masterton Co-operative Dairy Company states: —“The output for the season'ended June 30, 1942, was 713.2 tons, a decrease of 134.2 tons compared with 847.4 tons for the previous twelve months. We have again lost a number of suppliers owing to the changeover to cheese. We should experience an increase of tonnage this coming season on account of the British Government asking for the manufacture of more butter instead of cheese. The response to the appeal to our suppliers to take up their quota of shares has been most satisfactory—s2o shares having been allotted. “In respect of the previous year, the estimated pay-out per pound of butterfat (all grades) was 15.616 d, which was actually paid to suppliers. Butter stocks at June 30, 1942, have been valued on the basis of the guaranteed prices. Advance payments to suppliers during the season have been: July, 1941, to June, 1942, Is 2d per pound finest butterfat. The average payment for all grades was 13.810 d. There is a surplus of £9,256 0s 7d for disposal. Your directors have sanctioned a further payment of one and five-eighths pence per pound butterfat, absorbing £8,817 16s 4d, which will bring the current season’s average payout to 15.435 d, payment for finest butterfat beihg 15.625 d. Your I directors are pleased to be able to allot a rebate of 5 per cent on the purchase of all general merchandise. have to report an increased support from our suppliers this season, which is most satisfactory. “Your directors recommend a payment of 5 per cent on paid-up capital. The dividend will absorb approximately £2OO. Provision has been made for taxes: £2OO, leaving £3B 4s 3d to be carried forward. The retiring’ directors, Messrs F. J. Clarke, T. R. Eaton and A. C. Gawith, being eligible, offer themselves for re-election.
