AIR SCOUTS UNIFORMS RECEIVED. (“Times-Age” Special.) Since the Air Scout movement was introduced in Carter ton by Scoutmaster Fairbrother, considerable interest has been taken in it. Carterton has the distinction of having formed the first. Air Scout trbop in the Wellington district. As the result of Scoutmaster Fairbrother’s efforts an aeroplane was purchased. The boys then raised funds for the purchase of their air force uniforms. There are twentyone members in. the company and last evening at the Scout Den, under the supervision of Air Scouts Alan Simmonds, P. Nilson and A. Nimot, most of the members received their uniforms. Scoutmaster Fairbrother addressed the boys regarding their uniforms. Instruction was given to members of the company in Morse reading by Air Seoul) Simmonds. WOMEN’S DIVISION SUCCESSFUL DANCE. Despite unfavourable weather conditions last evening there was a very large attendance at the State Theatre when a dance was held by the local branch of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union. Mr V. J. Ashton acted as M.C. and excellent music was supplied by Mrs Ashton’s orchestra. Much appreciated extras were played by Miss Mary Herrick. Messrs T. Udy and S. Hemi. Supper was provided by ladies of the Division. Personal Items. Mr and Mrs C. E. Thomas, of Palmerston North, are visiting the Carterton district and are the guests of Mr and Mrs Scott, Kokotau. Mr and Mrs C. C. Callender and Miss D. Armstrong left Carterton yesterday for Waikanae, where they will spend a holiday. Mrs J. Tinsley, of Palmerston North, is the guest of Mrs A. Tinsley, Kent Street. Pte. lan Mackie, who recently returned from the Middle East, and has been spending leave in Carterton, resumed his duties yesterday. Mr and Mrs Harold Goodin, of South Carterton, yesterday received a cable message from their daughter, Sister Una Goodin, who is in the Middle East, stating that she was fit and well. St.'Andrew’s Church. The annual meeting of St. Andrew’s Church will be held on Monday next at 8 p.m. Earthquake. ' A sharp earthquake was felt in Carterton about 4.30 o’clock this morning, Church Services. A Church of England service will be held at Longbush at 2.30 p.m. on Sunday.
