WIPED OUT
THE FRENCH PARLIAMENT. DECREE SIGNED BY LAVAL & PETAIN. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, August 25. Vichy reports that Laval and Petain have wiped out the French Parliament, A decree signed by both abolishes the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies as permanent organisations. The decree also eliminates the position of President of the Senate. An official statement says it is not considered necessary to continue the existing Parliamentary conditions, since neither Chamber will meet again unless Marshal Petain specially convokes them.
