ROTARY CLUB
ANNUAL MEETING HELD. REPORT ON GOVERNOR’S ASSEMBLY. The president, Mr Norman Lee, presided over the annual meeting of the Masterton Rotary Club held in the. Y.M.C.A. rooms today. There was a good attendance of members. Mr R. G. Tai be ys, of the Wanganui Rotary Club, was a visitor at the luncheon. Mr Lee submitted the annual reports from the directors and the various chairmen of committees. They reviewed in a comprehensive manner the past year’s activities indicating that the aims of Rotary were being carried out in a practical and useful manner notwithstanding many difficulties due to th ' war situation. As president-elect, Mr J. *H. Cunningham reported on the District Governor’s North Island Assembly, held in Wellington on Tuesday and Wednesday. Mr S. L. P. Free and Mr Alex McKenzie (secretary) were also present from the Masterton Club. The bringing together of delegates from other centres and towns, said Mr Cunningham, gave the members an opportunity to meet one another and engender the spirit of fellowship. Fellowship was of vital necessity to the Rotary movement said the District Governor, Mr F. HallJones, in his address, when stressing the need for cultivating fellowship in all clubs, particularly in the forums. The past District Governor. Mr J. Hott, who gave an address on club service, said that the committee work was really the driving force of the club. Another past District Governor, Sir Alex Roberts, gave a talk on vocational service. Mr Cunningham reported at length on various matters affecting club organisation, dealt with at the assembly. Prior to the business session at today’s luncheon Mr T. Vaughan sang “Land of Hope of Glory,” Rotarians joining in the chorus.
