The following official weather report and forecast was issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, at noon today:— DISTRICT FORECAST: Strong south-easterly winds, still reaching gale force in exposed positions. Weather dull, with further intermittent rain. Temperatures cold, with snow on the hills. FURTHER OUTLOOK: Cold and showery, with only slow improvement. LOCAL REPORT. Mr N. W. Towns reports as follows for the 24 hours ended 8 a.m. today:— Barograph, 30.11; shade temperature, maximum, 40.6; minimum, 37.9; terrestrial, 36.3; sunshine, nil; rain, 68 points. Mr H. M. Boddington reports that 65 points of rain fell at Solway during the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. today. Draw blinds at 6.15 p.m. today; raise them at 6.23 a.m. tomorrow.
