MANY ACTIVITIES

WAIRARAPA INTERHOUSE ASSOCIATION' PROGRESS WELL MAINTAINED. BUSINESS AT ANNUAL MEETING. Continued progress in all activities during the past year was reported at the annual meeting of the Wairarapa Interhouse Association. In the absence of the president, Mr L. B. Maunsell, Mr G. Daubney took the chair. There was a fair attendance. Mr Daubney thanked the various committees for attending to the society's activities during the year, which had proved a strenuous period owing to members of the committee being called up for military service. The secretary, Mr R. Costello, was the last to leave for camp and his help and practical experience would be greatly missed. Appreciation was expressed of the girls’ work in the association’s various activities.

The election of officers resulted as follow: —President, Mr L. B. Maunsell; vice-presidents, Messrs H. P. Hugo, E. Hodder, W. Levin, J. Jameson and J. H. Cunningham; committee, Messrs R. Rawson, W. Butler, W. Flaws, L. Askew, F. Stains, G. Daubney (chairman), H. Lambert, B. Parsons, J. Bruce, F. Graham and H. Jamieson; hon. solicitor, Mr H. H. Daniell; secretary and treasurer, Mr G. Davis; hon. auditor, Mr A. Owen Jones.

The fourth annual report reviewed the various activities of the association during the past year. Two entertainments were presented by the Girls’ Choir under the able leadership of Mrs Miller Hope and Mrs E. J. Rich. Many of the interhouse girls were connected with various concert parties and the parly organised by Mrs Miller Hope was the one the association was interested in as an Interhouse unit. The annual display in November was another outstanding success. The visit of the Trentham Band was an added and most acceptable attraction. The annual Interhouse Swimming Sports Carnival was held at the end of January and dances had been held fortnightly in the Municipal Hall until the recent earthquake. Indoor basketball had proved popular and successful. Reference was made to the loss of four committee members who had proceeded to camp, Messrs McChesney, Dallas, Callister and Costello and of Mr J. W. Hayden, who had gone to Auckland. Thanks were expressed to the members of the committee for their loyalty during the past season and to all others who had assisted the association in various ways.
