ADDITIONAL BENEFITS
FOR AUSTRALIAN SEAMEN. SUFFERING BY ENEMY ACTION. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) (Received This Day, 10.45 a.m.) CANBERRA, This Day. _ An immediate provision of addi'lional benefits to seamen who suffer as a result of enemy action is granted by National Security Regulations issued last night. They give an all-round increase in the maximum amounts of compensation that may be granted for loss of effects. Dentures, spectacles and other curative apparatus are to be replaced by the Commonwealth, ana a funeral grant up to £l5 made where a seaman’s death is directly attributable to war injury.
The claims of seamen who arc covered by the Act have been extended to include seamen in New Zealand merchant ships which are employed.on the Australian coast, with Australian crews.
