A communique from air headquarters in New Delhi says that during an offensive operation over north-west Burma last Thursday a Japanese fighter was shot down by R.A.F. planes. Other R.A.F. planes dive-bombed buildings in the enemy-occupied town of Mawleik, in the Chindwin Valley. Direct hits were scored.
The Chungking radio said today that General Chiang Kai-shek has sent a message to the Chinese expeditionary force in India paying a high tribute to their conduct during the Burmese campaign. He called on the Chinese troops in India to avoid any criticism or discussion of India’s political affairs.
