LATEST OFFICIAL FORECAST WIDESPREAD RAIN. WITH SNOW ON THE HILLS. The following official weather report and forecast was issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, at noon today:— DISTRICT FORECAST: Strong south-easterly to southerly winds reaching gale force at times. Weaiher dull with widespread rain and some heavy falls especially in the north. Temperatures cold with snow on the hills. FURTHER OUTLOOK: Cold and showery. ” 1 i LOCAL REPORT. Mr N. W. Towns reports as follows for the 24 hours ended 8 a.m. today:— Barograph, 30.23; shade temperature, maximum, 60.8; minimum. 59.9; terrestrial, 37.9; sunshine, 6 hours 24 minutes; rain, 23 points. Mr H. M. Buddington reports that 25 points of rain fell at Solway during the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. today. Draw blinds at 6.15 p.m. today; raise them at 6.25 a.m. tomorrow.
