MASTERTON CLUB MEETING. At the weekly meeting of the Masterton Esperanto Club held last evening, Mr N. Lamont presided over a good attendance of members. The greater part of the evening was devoted to consideration of “The ’Sankey’ Declaration of the Rights of Man." which together with an intro? duction specially written by H. G. Wells was featured in the June issue of “Esperanto Internacia.” recently distributed in New Zealand. Divided into 11 sections, and released during the present war, the declaration dealt with the right to live, the protection of minors, duty to the community, the right to knowledge, freedom of thought and religion, the right. to work, the right to personal possessions,, freedom of movement, personal liberty, protection against violence and the right of law-making. Study comprised translation and reading of articles published in “La Interna Ideo,” a magazine published in Esperanto at Wellington, which the club uses as a textbook; and the final session was given to general questions and conversational practice.
