FEATHERSTON
SOLDIERS’ DANCE GATHERING IN TOWN HALL. (“Times-Age” Special.) There was a good attendance at the Soldiers’ dance held in the Town Hall on Saturday night. The music was supplied by a novelty band and extras were played by Miss Grace Fraser. The duties of M.C. were carried out by Mr F. Talbot and Mr F. Anderson. The spot fox trot was won by Pte. J. Fraser and Miss Harvey. The Junior Patriotic Committee was in charge of supper.
Personal Items. Mr and Mrs J. B. Taylor, Lower Hutt, were weekend guests of Mrs S. Raper. Miss Foss left on Saturday for Levin where she will visit relatives. Miss Dempster is.visiting Wellington. The death occurred at Featherston on Friday of Mrs 'Annie Matilda Saxton. widow of Henry ,Waring Saxton, New Plymouth, ai, the age of 82. The late Mrs Saxton had been on a visit to her daughter, Mrs H. R. Bloxam. The funeral took place al the Featherston Cemetery yesterday afternoon. At the conclusion of the service at St. John’s Church last evening, the vestry, choir and parishioners farewelled Mr and Mrs K. H. Allen and Miss Janet Allen. The Rev. J. R. Higgs, in making a presentation to the guests, referred to the splendid work they had carried out in the interests of the church, Mrs Allen as organist, Mr Allen as a member of the choir and the vestry, and Miss Allen for her assistance- at the organ and in the choir. Mr Allen suitably replied. ,
COSY THEATRE ‘COME LIVE WITH ME.” On Wednesday night at the Cosy Theatre there will be shown one of the best comedies ever brought to the screen, “Come Live With Me,” in which the leading roles are taken by Hedy Lamarr, James Stewart and lan Hunter.
