Yesterday’s National Savings receipts at the . Masterton Post Office amounted to £223, making the total to date for the week, £473.
Converted Car Recovered. A motor-car belonging to Private H. J. Milner was taken from outside the Catholic Services Club on Thursday night. It was recovered yesterday afternoon in a damaged condition near the main road at Solway. The car had evidently been capsized. Injury to Finger.
An eighteen-month-old baby, Allen Cox, whose parents reside at 47 Lincoln Road, Masterton, was admitted to the Masterton Hospital yesterday afternoon. He had a finger jammed in a door. The child was discharged from hospital this morning. St. Andrew Society.
A meeting of the council of the St. Andrew Society was held last evening. The secretary reported that the dance held on August 12, although not as well attended as was hoped for, was most enjoyable. Arrangements are well in hand for the next gathering which is to be held in the Masonic Hall on Saturday, August 29, instead of the first Saturday in September as originally intended. It was resolved that dancing should commence at 8 p.m. Mrs Bell has undertaken to provide a haggis. _____
