MASTERTON SALE RISE IN FAT SHEEP PRICES. GOOD DEMAND FOR DAIRY CATTLE. The Associated Auctioneers report on their weekly stock sale at Mastertoil yesterday aS follows: A good yarding of all classes of sheep and a special entry of dairy cattle came forward and were offered to a representative attendance of buyers. The fat sheep yarding, which was a large one, comprised mainly fat ewes, which were of much better quality than last week, and prices showed a good rise on our last sale, this being due, no doubt, to the shortage of local butchers’ supplies and compet:ition from the Manawatu and Wellington buyers. Hoggets were again in keen demand, making from 225, while a few pens of ewes r.w. S.D. met with a spirited sale. There was a gbod demand foi- dairy cattle which made prices well up to late rates. Good springing cows made from £9, £lO to £lO 10s. A total clearance was effected under the hammer, and the following list of our principal sides will indicate values: — Sheep: Good fat heavy wethers, 365, 36s (id to 38s; good fat ewes, including few maidens, 28s, 28s 3d to 28s lOd; good fat heavy ewes, 275, 27s 6d, 28s to 28s lOd; light fat ewes, 235, 24s to 24s 9d : light unfinished ewes, 14s. 15s to 16s 2d; fat hoggets, 22s 6d, 23s (id to 245; prime heavy hoggets, 27s 7d; m.a. ewes r.w.S.D.r., 21s, 235, 25s 6d; ewe hoggets, 255; 25s Id to 25s 3d; medium do, 20s, 22s 6d; small ewe hoggets, 16s, 17s, 13s 6d; wether hoggets, shorn, 20s, 20s 6d to 20s 8d; good woolly wether hoggets, 21s 6d to 225; b.f. hoggets, 18s 9d to 19s 2d; small wether hoggets, 15s 3d to 16s 9d; maiden 4th ewes, 25s 6d. Dairy cattle: Fat dairy cows, £4 10s, £5 to £5 15s; store dairy cows, £3, £3 10s to £3 15s; ylg. Jersey heifers, £3 17s 6d to £4 2s 6d; spg. heifers, small late calvers, £5 15s. £6 10s, £7 10s to £7 15s; cows, just calved. £7 10s to £8; spg. August calving cows, £B, £8 10s, £9 10s, £lO 10s; spg. September calvers, £B, £9 10s, £10; late calving cows, £6, £6 10s, £7 15s. PAHIATUA SALE. LATE RATES MAINTAINED. The Associated Auctioneers report as follows on their Pahiatua sale: Small entries in all sections came forward, and were offered to a medium attendance of the public. Realisations in all sections were on a par with late rates, and a total clearance was jnade at auction. Quotations: Medium, quality spg. heifers, £9, £8 10s to £8; small do, £7 10s, to £6; heifers, calved, £8 to £5 10s; spg. cows, £lO, £9' 10s to £8; wnr. Jersey heifers, £4.
