FERTILISER SUPPLIES
REQUEST TO GOVERNMENT.
BY CANTERBURY FARMERS.
(By Telegraph—Press Association.)
CHRISTCHURCH, August 18
A decision to urge on the Government the need for the same quantities of fertiliser for cultivation as were used last year to be available again for new grass after crop this season, and that any reduction should be made on the top-dressing distribution, was passed at a meeting of the Mid-Can-terbury Primary Production Council at Ashburton.
The Department of Agriculture wrote that farmers would be allowed lewt. of fertiliser to the acre for new grass after crop, and applications would have to be made by August 15, with an extension to August 30.
The chairman, Mr H. C. B. Withell, said that the regulations governing the distribution of fertilisers had been finalised, but they had not been received at Ashburton.
