PERSONAL ITEMS (“Times-Age” Special.) On Friday evening at the Clarevillc Hall the residents of the Clareville district will entertain Privates S. Fisher, G. Neich and J. Sewell at a social gathering. Sergeant Blake, who has been overseas, returned to Carterton yesterday. Corporal Thos. Harp, who has been overseas, has returned to Carterton, and is staying with his parents. Band Patron to be Entertained. The members of the Carterton Band will entertain their patron, Mr W. B. Allen, in the bandroom . tonight, the occasion being his 95th birthday. The public will be admitted at a small charge. A card tournament will be held as well as dancing. Hockey. The Carterton junior A team to play College A at Carterton at 2 p.m. on Saturday will be:—Verna Merwood. Rilma Hopkins, Audrey Williams, Ngarie Williams, Marie Campbell. Peggy Deller, Beryl Matson, Betty Parker, Pat Jensen, Dulcie George, Lola Hopkins. Football. The following are the Wairarapa Rugby Union's fixtures for Saturday: A grade: Carterton v College, at Masterton; Masterton a bye. B grade: Featherston v Masterton, at Masterton; Greytown v College, at Greytown; Carterton, a bye. Bobby Calves. The collection of bobby calves for the northern and southern areas is being carried out on systematic lines. So far this season hundreds of calves have been taken from Wairarapa farms to the meat works, and each Monday and Thursday sees considerable additions to the total. It is expected that there will be a record supply this year. Parcels for Soldiers. Carterton’s quota of over 200 parcels for soldiers serving in the armed forces overseas has been dispatched to the headquarters at Wellington. It is a matter for congratulation that Carterton’s quota has been filled on each occasion.
