CORDAGE AND FIBRE CONTROL NOTICE, 1942. rpHE Factory Controller has published the above-named Notice in the N.Z. Gazette of August 13,1942, in force next day, directing as follows:— NO PERSON SHALL SELL, TRANSFER, OR OTHERWISE DISPOSE OF, without prior written consent of the Controller or his appointed approving officer, • ANY CORDAGE OR FIBRE except (a) seaming twine to sew woolpacks, if tiie seaming twine is sold, transferred, or otherwise disposed of at the same time as the woolpacks and in quantities not exceeding Mb. hank to twelve woolpacks; (b) the sale, transfer or other disposal of binder, bagging and hay-baling twines for harvest purposes to any farmer or owner of harvesting, threshing or hay-baling machines in a quantity not exceeding in any period of three months the quantity sold, transferred, or otherwise disposed of to the same person in the corresponding period of three months in the year 1941. Every owner of more than 1121 b. weight of unused cordage or fibre shall, by August 27, 1942, furnish to the Controller written particulars of the quantities of them, stating (a) descriptions and grades, (b) quantities, (c) address where stored or kept, except farmers holding stocks of cordage for their own exclusive use, or persons holding less than two unused coils of cordage. Within seven days of its importation the importer of any cordage or fibre shall furnish the Controller with details of (a) descriptions and grades, (b) quantities. Within seven days after the end of each calendar month every manufacturer, miller or producer of any fibre during that month shall furnish the Controller with details thereof, giving (a) descriptions and grades, (b) quantities, (c) particulars of all sales, (d) details of stocks on hand at end of month. All persons heretofore approved by the Secretary of Ministry of Supply for purposes of Clauses (2) and (3) of notice relating to cordage, rope, twine and thread, as published in N.Z. Gazette dated July 31, 1940, page 1777, whose appointments are effective on 12/8/1" shall without further notice be deemed to be approving officers appointed by the Controller (see first part of this notice). Unless context otherwise requires:— “Cordage” means cordage, rope, twine or cable manufactured from any fibre. “Fibre” means fibres of any plants, the usual and botanical names of which are: Manila hemp (Musa-textilus), Sisal hemp (Agave-rigida), Coir (Cocos-nuci-fera), New Zealand flax (Phormium tenax); Cotton (Cossypium-barbadense), (Corchbrus-capsularis), and (Corcho-rus-olitorium). Jute (Corchorus-capsularis) and (Cor-chorus-olitorium), Linen flax (Linumusitatissimum), Soft hemp (Cannabissativa), Sunn hemp (Crotolaria-juncea), Ramie (Boehmeria-tenacissima) and (Boehmer ia-nivea).
