JAPANESE CAUTION

FIGHTERS FOLLOW ALLIED BOMBERS AFTER RAID ON TIMOR. BUT ABSTAIN FROM ATTACK. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 11.47 a.m.) RUGBY, August 16. After raiding south-eastern Timor, Allied bombers were followed from the target area by four Japanese fighters for nearly 70 miles to sea. The Japanese did not attempt to attack, having apparently learned to respect the accuracy of the Allied gunners. In the same area, earlier in the week, Allied bombers sank a transport and damaged a destroyer.
