AMERICAN FIGHTERS

TAKING PART IN SWEEPS OVER FRANCE ANOTHER NIGHT RAID ON WEST GERMANY. MADE BY BRITISH BOMBERS. LONDON, August 16. R.A.F. bombers were over Germany last night, when they attacked industrial targets in the west. Heavy clouds hung over the objectives, but some of the crews were able Io find gaps and others came down below the clouds. Five planes were lost. One German night tighter was destroyed. American fighter squadrons, accompanied by Canadian fighters, made another sweep over France today. The}' also took part in sorties and other operations.
