EKETAHUNA CLUB
ELECTION OF PRESIDENT.
(“Times-Age” Special.) A special general meeting of the Eketahuna Bowling Club was held in the Odd Fellows’ Hall for the purpose of electing another president to replace Mr N. S. Williams (postmaster) who is shortly leaving the district to take up a similar position in the Post Office at Papakura. Mr A. H. Herbert was in the chair. Mr L. Houlbrooke was elected ths club president for the coming season. At the close of the meeting the opportunity was taken to farewell the retiring president. Mr A. H. Herbert was called upon to present to Mr Williams, on behalf of the members, a tea set. In doing so, Mr Herbert spoke of the excellent manner in which Mr Williams had carried out his duties botli as club president and postmaster during the past three years. He also recalled how the membership of the club had increased from about 20 to 50-odd players during his term of office. . Other members present spoke on similar lines and wished Mr Williams and his family a happy time in their new place of residence at Papakura. Mr Williams in reply congratulated Mr Houlbrooke on his appointment as president and thanked the members. for their cooperation and support during his term of office and for the useful presentation made to him. , T , At the conclusion of the meeting Mr Houlbrooke referred to the death of Mr Jack Ammunsen, who was a member o. the club, and as a mark of respect members stood in silence for a few moment.
