RETIREMENT OF CHIEF AUDITOR. (Bv Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. * The resignation of Mr A. L. Hempton, Chief Auditor of the Bank of New Zealand, was announced by’the Prime Minister (Mr Fraser) today. Mr Hempton finishes his duties at the end of this month. He has held the position since December, 1930. Ho joined the Bank of New Zealand in 1889, and after serving in several places in the Dominion, was Assistant General Manager from 1927 to 1930. Mr Fraser ex-

pressed the Government’s appreciation of Mr Hempton’s faithful and efficient service. Mr David Firth Reid has been appointed to succeed Mr Hempton. Until recently, Mr Reid was London Manager.
