Gazette of 13th Aug., 1942, in force the next day directing that the Bicycle Tire and the Tube Control Notice 1942, is amended by inserting after Clause 4 of it (shown as clause (i) in the newspaper notice) the following new clause: — “4a—Except with the precedent consent of the Factory Controller or of some person appointed by the Factory Controller for the purpose, no person whose business or part of whose business is the manufacture, repair, or sale of pedal-bicycles, or the sale of tires or tubes to which this notice applies, shall affix any new or retreaded tire oi - new tube to any pedal-bicycle wheel I otherwise than in pursuance of a sale or other disposal which has been consented to under clause 4 hereof.”

BRUSHWARE CONTROL NOTICE, 1942. 'THE Factory Controller has published the above-named notice in the N.Z. Gazette of August. 13, 1942, in force the next day directing as follows: — NO" OCCUPIER OF A FACTORY or OWNER OF FACTORY materials shall use ANY BRISTLE or its substitute for any purpose without prior written consent of the Controller. Every OWNER OF RAW BRISTLE shall by 20th August, 1942, and every IMPORTER OF ANY BRISTLE shall within seven days of importation furnish to the Controller full written particulars of the grades and quantities of each grade of. the stocks or importations thereof as the case may be. “Bristle” means any hair (whether or not dressed( irrespective of the source of such hair, or any fibre substitute for hair capable of being used in the manufacture of brushware. “Brushware” includes all brushes manufactured for commercial and industrial use, and all paint-brushes, hair-brushes, tooth-brushes, cleaningbrushes, brooms, and shaving-brushes.
