Mrs J. H. Irving, Upper Plain, is visiting New Plymouth. The death occurred at Wadestown on Thursday of Mr Sydney John Cooper, formerly of Nireaha, at the age of 69 years. Lieutenant W. A. (“Tony”) Downes, of Canterbury, and son of Mr and Mrs DoAvn.es, Perry Street, Master ton, is a visitor to Masterton on furlough. The Rev. Francis Albert Tooley, Vicar of Berhampore, died in Wellington yesterday, at the age of 59. Ordained deacon in England in 1915, he then came to New Zealand, and Avas ordained priest at Nelson in 1916. For eight years he was on the West Coast, and subsequently was at Woolston, in the Christchurch diocese. He then transferred to the Wellington diocese, being appointed to Berhampore and Lyall Bay in 1935.
