KOREAN APPEAL

FOR MEDIATION IN INDIA

(Received This Day, 1.10 p.m.) LONDON, August 13.

A Chungking message reports that the Korean Independence Party has asked President Roosevelt, Mr Churchill, M. Stalin and General Chiang Kaishek to mediate in the Anglo-Indian conflict, has requested President Roosevelt to recommend rational methods of settlement, and has implored Mr Churchill to release the Indian leaders. The party sent identical messages to General Chiang Kai-shek and M. Stalin asking them to use their influence for the release of the leaders. The party believed, it was stated, that a settlement of the Indian problem would bring earlier victory for the United Nations.
