RED CROSS SOCIETY
MASTERTON SUB-CENTRE MONTHLY MEETING OF MEMBERS. At the i monthly meeting of the Masterton Sub-Centre of the Red Cross Society Mrs Tolhurst presided. Mrs Gooder tendered her resignation as treasurer on account of ill health. The resignation was accepted with regret. Appreciation was exxpressed of the work Mrs Gooder had done for the Society. Mrs D. Maxwell offered her services as treasurer and this was gratefully accepted. Miss Grant and Mrs Robertson were appointed voluntary aid delegates and Miss Cruickshank and Wass Madeley transport delegates to the meeting of voluntary aid and transport delegates. It was reported that the sewing group had been mainly occupied with the making of orderly gowns and ward slippers. The hospital group completed a rush order for 100 masks. The Prisoner of War Committee asked that Mrs Towns be added to their committee. It was reported that the Patriotic committee had notified the prisoner of war committee that they are willing to supply all the hussifs with their contents for the prisoner of war parcels. The War Committee was grateful for this assistance. Mrs Thompson asked that Mrs Lee be added to the welfare committee and her name was added to this committee. The' knitting group reported that 72 garments had been completed. It was decided that the Sub-Centre should be responsible for visiting and supplying comforts to V.A.’s sick in hospital and that Miss Grant be asked to notify the secretary when any V.A.’s entered hospital as patients.
