LATEST OFFICIAL FORECAST MAINLY FAIR. COOL TO MODERATE TEMPERATURES. The following official weather report and forecast was issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, at noon today:— DISTRICT FORECAST: Moderate south-westerly winds, an isolated shower of two, but weather mainly fair; temperatures cool to moderate. FURTHER OUTLOOK: Fair. LOCAL REPORT. Mr H, M. Boddington reports that 63 points of rain fell at Solway during the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. today. Mr N. W. Towns reports as follows for the 24 hours ended 8 a.m. today:— Barograph, 30.10; shade temperature, maximum, 56.8; minimum, 43.6; terrestrial, 41.2; sunshine, 2 hours 18 minutes; rain, 59 points. PHASES OF THE MOON. New moon, August 12. First quarter, August 19. Full moon, August 26. Draw blinds at 6.15 p.m. today; raise them at 6.51 a.m. tomorrow.
