The great desert race between General Auchinleck and Marshal Rommel to reinforce their respective armies with men and material continues. Patrols during the past few days have intercepted numerous German working parties laying mines, digging gun positions and wiring. The Rome radio declared that both sides are preparing for battle in Egypt and that numerous ships are arriving daily from Italy at Libyan ports, with fresh reinforcements. General Auchinleck also is receiving a stream of reinforcements from the Near East and Middle East. General Auchinleck, [he Rome radio said, will not be able to stem the overwhelming attack which the Axis forces will launch at an opportune moment.
