MASTERTON HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY d > — DECISION OF ANNUAL MEETING. PAST SEASON'S ACTIVITIES. A decision to go into recess for a year was made at the annual meeting "last night of the Masterton Horticultural Society. Officers were elected as follow:— Patroness, Mrs B. V. Skeet; president, Mr H. L. Esau; vice-presidents, Mesdames W. H. Booth, A. M. Moser, M. Scharnweber, G. Tolhurst and G. Williams; Messrs P. Borthwick, T. Jordan, F. G. Maunsell, H. E. Pither and W. H. Robieson; committee, MesdamesP. Borthwick, W. B. Gaskin, H. L. Pi ice, S. Kilgour, H. E. Pither, W. H. Robieson, Snowsill, Shortland, F. M. Wallis and J. Welsh, Messrs J. Cartwright, F. W. Groves, Archer Hale, W. Kemp, L. S. Nicol, C. L. Needham and H. Smith; executive, Mesdames B. V. Skeet and W. H. Robieson; Messrs H. L. Esau, C. L. Needham, H. E. Pither, W. H. Robieson and H .Smith; afternoon tea steward, Mrs A. Kilgour; stall steward, Mrs W. B. Gaskin; hon. treasurer, Mr H. M. Boddington; hon. auditors, Messrs Low and Cunningham. The annual report stated that only one show was held during the season, that on November 19. This attracted many new exhibitors, whose support, added to the excellent efforts of the society’s older exhibitors, made the show one of the most outstanding ones held by the society for many years. A new class introduced to pio vide competition amongst the various Women’s Institutes, and Gardening Circles throughout the Wairarapa produced excellent competition of a highly standard, and contributed considerably to the success of the show. The society finished its year with cash funds in hand, amounting to £129 2s sd, this sum being £lO 15s lid in excess of the amount in hand at the commencement of the year. The season finished with a membership roll of 200, a decrease of seventeen members for the year. Thirty-nine members were not financial at the close of the year. At the last annual meeting of the society, the privilege of life membership was extended to Mrs M. G. Scharnweber, Mr F. W. Groves, and Mr W. H. Robieson Our executive extended its congratulations to these members, and thanked them for their continued loyal support. Thanks were expressed to all helpers. '
