KEEN COMPETITION FOR FAT SHEEP. RISE UP TO THREE SHILLINGS A HEAD. Comnetition for fat sheep was very keen at today’s Masterton stock sale, wethers and ewes being up by 3s a head. This was largely accounted for by the presence of Wellington butchers, who took the majority of the yarding. Prices were* —Medium wetners, 345, 355, 35s 9d; light fat ewes, 20s 6d to 23s 6d- 2-th. Southdowns, 255; aged Southdown ewes, 20s to 22s 9d; prime fat hoggets, 295; prime Down wethers, 355. A good line of 2-4-6 and fresh fullmouthed ewes in lamb to Southdown, rams made 27s 10d.
