An increase in pay for members of the Australian fighting services and their dependents was authorised by the Federal Cabinet today. The increase will represent an extra sixpence a day to the fighting man and another shilling a day for his wife and sixpence for the first child. Cabinet also decided to increase from £2OO to £250 the exemption from taxation of members of the Services. The additional pay will cost the Government about eleven million pounds a year, and another two million is involved in the remission of taxation. Rates of pay for Women’s Services personnel will be increased proportionately. i
