Snow on Rimutakas.

There was snow an inch deep for a mile on the main highway each side of the summit of the Rimutaka Range late yesterday afternoon, and snow was then falling heavily with indications of conditions worsening. Motorists are advised to take care when using this road. Bicycle Tires and Tubes. Tires and tubes for pedal bicycles are to be brought under control to ensure that only necessitous and essential purposes shall govern the ability to purchase. Making this announcement last night, the Minister of Supply and Munitions, Mr Sullivan, said thati after a full discussion with representatives of the trade, a cycle tire and tube rationing scheme had been framed and this was calculated to make for the most equitable distribution of the very limited supplies that were available oi’ were likely to be available. The priority list is devised to cover workers in essential industry,” said the Minister. “Persons who live within one and a half miles of their work or place of education, or who have other means of transport, have little possibility of procuring tires. In view of the fact that paper is also in short supply I ask such persons to refrain from making application. Should the position improve there will doubtless be some easing of the allocation. Meanwhile the acute shortage necessitates 1 stringent control.” '
