LASH FOR PROFITEERS
PUNISHMENT INFLICTED IN ALEXANDRIA. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) (Received This Day, 12.30 p.m.) LONDON, July 28. In Alexandria eight profiteers, whipped after conviction under a new law, received ten to twenty lashes and then were admitted to hospital. The lash previously was applied only to policemen and soldiers convicted of serious offences.
