TITLES AND HONOURS

PROPOSALS IN CANADA. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, July 25. Following a controversy of many years’ standing regarding the acceptance of honours by Canadians, a House of Commons committee at Ottawa, an agency message states, has recommended the Canadian Government to consider submitting to the King proposals for the establishment of an order not involving a title for which Canadians alone would be eligible. The committee further recommended that Canadians should be eligible for the award of honours and decorations, including awards in the orders of chivalry, which do not involve the conferment of titles.
