SALE AT FEILDING PRIME EWES ADVANCE IN PRICE: CATTLE VALUES FIRM. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) FEILDING, July 24. There was an extra heavy yarding of sheep today and a very good sale all round. In the fat sheep pens were many lines of good quality, for which there was- an excellent demand. Consequently prime ewes, specially advanced about 2s a head. Fat wethers were very firm at late rates, possibly at a slight advance for primest. There was a very keen demand for store hoggets, with a market advance in price for wether hoggets. Many lines of ewes in lamb were offered with a good sale. There was a heavy yarding of dairy cattle with a growing demand for better’ quality springing heifers. A good clearance of run cattle with a wide-awake demand for. any thing of good quality and condition resulted. Cattle prices- remained fairly firm, best heifer beef ranging to 27s Gd per 1001 b. Range of prices: Fat wethers, prime heavy, 34s ’7d. extra prime 34s lOd, good 31s lOd to 33s lOd, prime ewes 23s Id to 23s lOd. extra heavy 24s Id to 24s lOd. a few extra special ewes made 25s Gd, good to 21s lOd, prime lambs 19s- lOd to 20s lOd. black faces 27s to 30s 4d. Store sheep, wether hoggets, good lines 21s 7d to 23s 9d. fair to 20s 9d. ewe hoggets 23s 9d to 25s 4d, two-tooth ewes 29s 4d to 33s 3d, four-tooth to 245. four and six-tooth 21s Gd to 30s lOd, four and five-year to 25s Gd. five and six-year to 19s 6d. Hereford heifers to £6 10s, Jersey heifers £4. CARTERTON SALE LATE RATES FOR FAT CATTLE. FAT SHEEP PRICES EASIER. Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report as follows on their Carterton sale:— A very heavy yarding of dairy cattle came forward, also a fair entry of sheep and pigs. Good dairy heifeTs on drop were on demand and made good prices. The top price recorded was £l5 15s. .while several others made £l4 and £l5. Backward heifers were not wanted and were only saleable at moderate prices. The same may be said regarding cows. Good sorts close to profit met with a keen demand but others were not required. Fat cattle made late rates and store cows' sold well. Weaner heifers were disposed of at fairly good prices. Fat sheep were easier, although the quality was not good. Wether lambs and ewes r.w. ram made late rates. Pigs met with a very keen demand.
