ABOUT TO BE ENDED IN BRITAIN. ALREADY VERY NARROWLY RESTRICTED. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.45 a.m.) RUGBY,-July 24. The War Transport Ministry announces that arrangements have been made to end the manufacture of motor-cars in the near future. So long as any new cars remain available, they will be allotted to those who have the greatest need for them. Earlier regulations had already considerably reduced the manufacture of cars, and in the six months ended on. June 30, only 1,202 licences for purchase of the 1,820 new cars available were granted to persons or firms engaged in work of national -importance. It was stated recently in the House of Commons that the production of new cars, exclusively for purposes of national importance, vzas very limited. In future all cars required by the Government, except for service purposes, would be second-hand, and would be bought or requisitioned from dealers or private owners.
