MARTINBOROUGH

WEDDING WILSON—EVANS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The wedding took place recently at St. Andrew’s Church, Martinborough, of Mary Megan, only daughter of Mr and Mrs E. C. Evans, Huangarua Road, Martinborough, to Leading Seaman George William, only son of Mr and the late Mrs Wilson, Christchurch. The Rev. J. Neild officiated.

The bride, who was escorted by her uncle, Mr D. Knutson, of Carterton, was attired in a closely fitting gown of off-white brocaded satin, flaring fully from the hips. She carried a bouquet of white chrysanthemums, freezes and violets, and her veil which had been her mother’s was caught to her head with a tiara of orange blossom.

The bridesmaids were Misses Freda Lennon and June Westbury, who were dressed alike in frocks of heavenly blue Burma crepe, with turbans of the same material. They carried bouquets of heath and cyclamen. Able Seaman R. Parker was best man and Able Seaman F. Watson groomsman. During the signing of the register Miss Westbury sang the hymn, “0 Perfect Love.”

After the ceremony a reception was held at the residence of the bride’s parents, the guests being received by the bride's mother, who wore a smart frock of burgundy figured satin and carried a posy of autumn shades. Later the bride and bridegroom left for the north by car, the bride wearing a model navy frock under a navy tailored coat, with accessories to tone. Their future home will be in Wellington. Daffodil Society. At the annual meeting of the Martinborough Daffodil Society the following officers were elected for the ensuing year: —Patroness, Mrs John Martin; president, Mrs H. W. Blundell; vice-presidents, Mrs Kershaw, Miss M. C. Martin, Mrs Perry; committee, Mesdames Skill, Pain, Ward, Knell, Tyler, Willis, W. B. Martin, Hamilton, Cassley, Sadd, Boyd, Baker, Blathwayt, Thomas, Cotter, Dale, Robson, Misses Dymes and Harvey, Mrs Griffiths; hon secretary, Mrs N. Prussing; assistant secretary, Mrs L. Chapman.
