The Railway Department advertises in (his issue restrictions on travel in the North Island for distances over 100 miles on and after Monday, July 27. Persons who have adequate reasons for desiring to travel more than 100 miles must apply for and obtain a permit from a stationmaster or permit officer. This arrangement is being put into operation in order to relieve the abnormal strain which war conditions have imposed upon the railways.
