PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH LADIES’ GUILD MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) There was,a good attendance at the annual meeting of the Greytown Presbyterian Ladies’ Guild. The Rev. J. A. E. Preston occupied the chair. Mrs Bower submitted a comprehensive report on the year’s activities, and Mr Preston congratulated the Guild on the work of the past year. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—President, Mrs A. Johnson (re-elected); deputy president, the Rev. J. A. E. Preston; secretary and treasurer, Mrs Bower; assistant secretary, Mrs Orr. Arrangements for a shop day were discussed and will be finalised at the next meeting. Afternoon tea was served by the committee. FARMERS’ UNION WOMEN’S DIVISION. The monthly meeting of the Woman’s Division of the Farmers’ Union uvas held yesterday afternoon in the Parish Hall. Mrs Beu presided over a good attendance of members. Mrs Beu expressed sympathy with members who had suffered loss as the result of the recent earthquake. A letter of sympathy was received from Mrs Groves (Provincial President) asking if any member required help as the result of earthquake damage. A letter of thanks is to be forwarded to' Mrs Groves, and sympathy extended to her in her loss during the earthquake, The resignation of Mrs A. D. Burch was accepted with regret. Mrs Beu notified members that she had 11b. of wool to be knitted for soldiers. Several members promised to knit garments. An appeal for old rubber goods and files was read by Mrs Beu. These articles can be left at the residence of Mrs F. Brooks, Main Street. A letter of sympathy is to be sent to Mrs Jewell, who has a soldier son on the seriously ill list . Members offered to help with the supper at a - soldiers’ dance in August. The competition, an article made from a sugar bag, resulted as follows:— Mrs D. Ingley 1 and 2; Mrs Hutchings, 3. A competition arranged by Mrs D. Ingley was won by Mrs J. Barr. The hostesses were Mesdames Dyson, Dickens, Hutchings, and Miss Eager. TOWN HALL “HIGHWAY WEST.” Tonight there will be presented a double feature programme, headed by the thrilling drama, “Highway West,” starring Arthur Kennedy and Brenda Marshall, and the western story, “Back in the Saddle,”' featuring Gene Autry.
