MAGISTRATE’S COURT
SITTING IN MASTERTON. TWO WOMEN CHARGED ( WITH THEFT. A sitting of the Masterton Magistrate’s Court was held this morning before Mr H. P. Lawry, S.M. Susan Boswell and Myrtle Susan Boswell were jointly charged with the theft, at Masterton on June 30, of tools to the value of £2, the property of John Gleeson. Senior-Sergeant G. A. Doggett said the accused were mother and daughter, living in a house rented from Mi' Gleeson. On the property was a shed in which Mr Gleeson had some tools stored. By some means they got into the shed and took the tools named and sold them to a second-hand dealer. The Magistrate entered a conviction and ordered the accused to come up for sentence if called upon within six months. They were also expected to make restitution. CIVIL CASES. Judgment for plaintiff by default was given in the following undefended civil cases: Commissioner of Taxes versus Frederick David John Butcher, £6 3s, costs Ils; Frederick Conrad Yule versus Allan Carter, £l4 8s 3d, costs £2 16s.
