STATE THEATRE
“WE GO FAST.” Young motor cops anxious for promotion have an exciting time in “We Go Fast,” which will be shown at the State Theatre tonight. Lynn Bari and Alan Curtis are starred. The motor-cycle squad risks more than death on its beats. Alan Curtis is a serious-minded young fellow, tall, well built, and honest, and the fixes he gets into when he arrests the daughter of a wealthy friend of his boss are ludricrous. There is his partner Brandon, and one is never sure whether the couple’s affections are not more firmly set on a pretty hot-dog girl than on a slim and fashionable speedster. It is first-rate comedy, with plenty of action. The third of the Michael Shayne stories will also be shown. “Dressed to Kill” may not be a particularly original title, but behind it is the mystery comedy of a famous detective who runs into a double murder while on his way to his wedding. But silk hat, morning clothes and a gardenia are no obstacle to Mike Shayne’s powers of detection, and he comes up trumps, confounding his critics and apprehending the murderer.
