WOMEN’S INSTITUTE MEETING AT KAHUTARA. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Kahutara Women’s Institute was held yesterday, Mrs Elbe presiding over a fair attendance of members. Mrs Elbe referred to the death of Private Harold True, who was recently killed in action. Members stood in silence for a few moments as a mark of respect to his memory. Finished splints and basins made from papier mache were on exhibition,. being the work of members. The competitions resulted: A knitted article suitable for local soldiers’ gift parcels, Mrs McKenna 1, Mrs Welch 2; best bloom, Mrs McKenna 1, Mrs Pope 2. The thought for the day was given by Mrs Elbe. The hostesses were Mesdames Wilson and Welsh. Personal Items. Mrs Collet is visiting Wellington for a few days. Miss Lucy Hood is paying a visit to relatives in Carterton. Bees Live in Chimney. In a damaged chimney, which was being dismantled, it was discovered that a swarm of bees had lodged in it. The bees apparently had occupied the chimney, which was not used for years. Nine layers of honeycomb in perfect condition and about 501 b of honey were taken from the chimney.
COSY THEATRE “LOVE CRAZY.” Comical complications ensue thick and fasl when William Powell sets out to convince Myrna Loy that he’s crazy in “Love Crazy,” their latest hilarious adventure which will be shown tonight. It starts with a marital quarrel, and Myrna decides on a divorce. But Powell discovers that she can’t legally divorce an insane husband, so insane he goes in a big way, chewing up phonograph records and otherwise staging “bughouse” antics. ®
