CARTERTON
POST OFFICE TOWER REMOVAL WORK COMPLETED. „ (“Times-Age” Special.) Workmen yesterday completed the work of removing the Post Office tower and the town clock. The bells will be stored in the meantime while the clock is being cleaned, when it will be packed away. Influenza Prevalent. There is considerable sickness, principally influenza, in Carterton at present. ■ New Dairy Season. The new dairy season will open in about a month. Most of the managers and staffs are busy cleaning up in readiness for the opening date. Some factories were damaged during the recent earthquake and staffs of men are engaged carrying out repairs. W.F.C.A. Premises. . The work of renovating the premises of the Carterton branch of the W.F.C.A., which were damaged by the earthquake and the gale, is being carried out expeditiously by the Wairarapa Joinery and Cabinet Co., Ltd. Football Match. The North and South Army teams which are to play a match on the Carterton Showgrounds on Saturday, are training hard and the game promises to be one of the best seen in'the Wairarapa for some time. The proceeds will be devoted to patriotic purposes and it is consequently hoped that there will be a large attendance. Members of the fighting forces will be admitted free.
