RAMMED & SUNK

U-BOAT DESTROYED BV DUTCH SHIP OPPORTUNITY QUICKLY SEIZED. ENEMY BOMBERS DRIVEN OFF. LONDON, July 21. The story of how an old and frail Dutch freighter sank a U-boat is told by the captain. He saw his neighbour in a convoy hit by a torpedo and the submarine was sighted 120 yards off. The order fullspeed ahead was given and the freighter crashed into the submarine. When the ship rammed the submarine a second time the engineers in the engine room heard the crunching of metal as the submarine's hull was stove in. , Two enemy bombers then attacked the Dutch ship, but these were driven off by gunfire.
