STRICTLY SECRET

HOUSE OF COMMONS DEBATE ON SHIPPING. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 1.5 p.m.) LONDON, July 16. Tire House of Commons, without a division, went into secret session to discuss the shipping situation. Several members who had previously protested against the secret debate, also criticised Sir Stafford Cripps’s announcement that the Government had decided not to issue a special summary after the debate. Mr Aneurin Bevan and several others complained that nothing was being done to impress the public with the gravity of the situation. At the close of the secret session, the following statement was issued under the authority of the Speaker: “The House considered the shipping situation. A. statement was heard from the Government.”
