PAMPERED IN GAOL
BRITISH POLITICAL PRISONERS LARGE SUPPLIES OF FOOD PASSED IN. COMPLAINT TO MINISTER. (By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright) (Received This Day, 12.20 p.m.) LONDON, July 16. Large quantities of rationed food are being smuggled to men and women held in Brixton Gaol under the Defence Regulations. Among those receiving food is Sir Oswald Mosley. The Prison Officers’ Association complained to the Home Security Minister (Mr H. Morrison) that: “Pounds and pounds of butter, bacon, cheese and other food is being taken to detainees, and we do not know where it comes from.” An officer added: “These people are being pampered and mollycoddled to such an extent that it is difficult to maintain discipline. They are getting to a stage where they think they can do as they like. Some have even been allowed to have radios and typewriters in their cells.”
