INCREASE IN ..SURCHARGE RATES. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) (Received This Day, 9.30 a.m.) NEW YORK, July 16. Reflecting the increased hazards of navigation, underwriters have considerably raised war time marine surcharge rates. There is a very extensive increase for voyages confined to the Western Hemisphere, where rates have trebled, while rates for shipments to Australia, New Zealand, Tasmania, India and Ceylon are doubled from a quarter to a half per cent. This war time marine surcharge must not be confused with war risk insurance. The latter relates to war risks proper, such as mines, torpedoes and capture, while the former covers hazards due to travelling without lights, peace time navigation aids, etc. _____
