LAMPS STOLEN

SIXTY. IN THREE WEEKS. SERIOUS POSITION DISCLOSED IN MASTERTON. About sixty hurricane lamps belonging to the Masterton Borough Council have been stolen since the earthquake three weeks ago. The lamps are used by the borougn to indicate obstructions on the roadway, owing to earthquake damage and the unlawful removal of the lamps has serious possibilities. Several cyclists have actually run into the obstructions on account of the lamps having been removed. Every night lamps are stolen and the position now reached is that the supply is running short. It is difficult to apprehend offenders, though the police have the matter in hand. .
