The Minister of War Organisation of Industry, Mr Dedman, has not been impressed by the legal argument that the ban on the manufacture of engagement rings constitutes a restraint against marriage. “If doing without engagement rings is all the sacrifice Australians have to make in inis war, we shall be very lucky people,” he said.
